THE secret lover of a wife accused of plotting to kill her husband has admitted he used to follow her and stand outside her marital home to speak to her.
Vicky Soteriou's former lover, Ari Dimitrakis, 49, said under cross-examination that in December 2009, a month before the near-fatal attack on Chris Soteriou, he would drive to the family home in Watsonia.
"Would you go to (her house) in early December, sit outside and toot your car horn?" defence counsel Phil Dunn, QC, asked Dimitrakis.
"I might have done it once or twice, yes," he said.
Mr Dunn asked if the reason he had done that was to "get her to come out".
"Were you yelling 'I love you' when you're standing out in the court?" he asked.
"I might have done it once, yes," Dimitrakis said.
"I wasn't harassing her, it was just my way of getting to speak to her."
The Supreme Court jury heard Dimitrakis sent up to 1000 messages to Ms Soteriou in under three weeks in October, but he said he received the same number in return from Ms Soteriou.
Ms Soteriou, 44, is charged with the attempted murder of her husband.
Mr Soteriou's throat was cut and he was stabbed seven times as he walked from his 44th birthday party on January 2 last year.
Yesterday, Dimitrakis said he had in the past told Ms Soteriou, accused of plotting with him to kill her husband, that he would kill him, but had thought it was role play.
On December 8 last year Dimitrakis was jailed for seven years after pleading guilty to intentionally causing serious injury.
Ms Soteriou's trial continues.
