Because I see a mass of rubbish on blogs/FB discussions, and can’t weigh in on all, please read this and spread it around to everyone you know. Anyone who argues Diaspora Greeks are not Hellenes is parochial, misguided and 100% wrong! Elena Panariti, a PA...SOK MP, has been absolutely misquoted in The Guardian as saying she is "American" and not Greek. It’s not true, she never said it, its entirely out of context, and she asked for a retraction. Even if 1 million report it or spread it around - sorry the world still isn't flat! I interviewed her a year ago for DJ-WSJ and she told me “I am Greek-Greek, but I have studied and worked in the US and overseas.” I am not a member of PASOK and I regularly disagree with Panariti on policy, but this is a cheap “below the belt” shot. Every Diaspora Greek should take issue with this kind of offensive stupidity because the basis of the attack is anti-Diaspora. This malicious sensationalism shows that the media continues to play games on the back of Greece's better interests. It’s fair and necessary to criticize her, any parliamentarian and every party on policy, transparency, and ideology. But this bull-dust is insulting to all Greeks living or having lived overseas, because the same argument suggests we are Hellenes either. Love or hate Panariti or her party, she deserves a presumption of innocence and right of reply. By the way, out the 300 in parliament, no one is more tireless in talking to foreign press to repair our image abroad. Look how she is thanked by the same press. Don’t believe everything defamatory you are served up by those seeking sales revenues and noterity … Μας δουλεύουν …Δείτε περισσότερα
