ITHEA information sessions, 2-14 October in Athens and Thessalonike
ITHEA (Institute of Tertiary & Higher Education Australia) is organising a series of information sessions, in Athens
and Thessalonike, for prospective students wishing to study in Australia.
Peter Jasonides, Managing Director of ITHEA, announced today that he will be presenting a series of information
sessions, in the two major Hellenic cities, between the 2
nd
and 14
th
October. These sessions will be aimed at
Hellenes who are interested in learning English and studying in Australia.
“ITHEA has been receiving numerous requests, over the last several months, from students, living in Greece, wishing
to study in Australia” Mr. Jasonides said. “These students are wishing to learn English and/or improve their English in
an English speaking country. Further, they are looking at studying in specific courses where there are skills
shortages in Australia. Melbourne is very attractive to them as it has the third largest population of people of Greek
origin; therefore, they don’t feel that home-sick”.
ITHEA courses include English (English as a Second Language) ESL – Certificates 1, 2, 3 and 4, Certificate 3 and
Diploma in Children’s Services, Diploma of Community Services Work, Certificates 2, 3, 4 and Diploma in Business,
as well as Advanced Diploma in Management.
The information sessions have been carefully planned to cover all facets of coming to Australia including study, life in
this huge continent, multiculturalism, lifestyle, infrastructure etc. Peter Jasonides said that “this information will assist
participants in their quest for considering Melbourne as a viable and productive study option”.
As Peter Jasonides will be in Greece for a limited time, all those interested in attending the ITHEA information
sessions are requested to e-mail their details to pj@ithea.vic.edu.au.
We note that ITHEA’s information sessions are not related to the “Skills Australia Needs” information sessions that
are being organised by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, in Athens, on 8 and 9 October. According to
the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, these aim to help address current skill shortages in areas of
occupational demand in Australia, and they will provide an opportunity for skilled workers to hear about skilled visa
options and possible sponsorship and employment opportunities in Australia. This event is focused on matching
skilled workers with Australian employment opportunities in specific occupational targeted areas. Further information
