ABOUT TWESTIVAL
Twestival is the largest grassroots social media fundraising initiative in the world. It is a global movement that uses social media for social good, empowering communities around the world to organise one of a kind offline events in support of a great local cause of their choice. All events are 100% volunteer run, and all ticket sales and donations go directly to the projects they support.
ABOUT MUNTPUNT
You´ll find Muntpunt on the Muntplein, in the heart of Brussels. The communication house is the home of a capital information centre, an experience library, but above all for everyone and everything in Brussels. Here you can find information on life and city life experience. The public spaces, from auditorium to café, are meeting spots that Muntpunt fills throughout the year with its own programmes and offers. Muntpunt connects people - to Muntpunt, to one another and to other Dutch-language Brussels initiatives - in order to help you to really discover the city. An organisation with a heart for Brussels.
Muntpunt is a joint initiative of the Flemish Government and the Flemish Community Commission.

BRUTwestival 2013 edition focuses on Storytelling and the Hashtag and supports free Tunisian journalists
Returning to Brussels for a fourth edition on November 28 2013, the Brussels Twestival will be focused on storytelling and will take place in the newly re-opened MuntPunt for a full afternoon of presentations, readings and workshops exploring all things twitter.
Charity festival
A charity festival lauding the use of online communications, through short text messages ontwitter.com, it will raise funds in support of Nejiba Hamrouni, a journalist and President of the Tunisian Journalist Union, which the International Federation of Journalists describes as “a leading light in the fight for press freedom in Tunisia”.
Social media for helping others
“Spending so much time on social media eventually you start wanting to use your time for helping others. The twestival grew out of this idea, bridging the gap of the online with an offline event, promoting a good cause and donating to charity as the final goal, it’s a rewarding experience,” says BRUTwestival organiser Alia Papageorgiou.
Storytelling and the hashtag
The theme of this year’s festival will focus on storytelling and the hashtag, and highlights of the day will include the presentation of the European Council’s Greek Presidency social media team, Live Listen & Tweets with international storytellers; a session on how to create "happenings" around hashtags with Richard Medic, founder of SoonFeed, a Google+ Hangout with Damien Van Achter talking Storify..
@Muntpunt
The Muntpunt Library offers a remarkable space to host the festival, bringing Brussels’ more knowledgeable users together for workshops and discussion for all. Traditional storytelling will meet digital formats such as blogging and new media, how to use twitter more effectively for politics, promotion, learning and social good.
Open event - registration
The event is open to the public but requires registration, where donations can also be made directly: https://www. eventbrite.com/e/brussels- twitter-festival-brutwestival- tickets-9158955683
